The Bibliography of British and Irish History provides bibliographic data on historical writing dealing with the British Isles, and with the British Empire and Commonwealth, during all periods for which written documentation is available – from 55BC to the present. It is the successor to the Royal Historical Society Bibliography of British and Irish History, available online from 2002 to 2009.

Oxford Handbooks Online contains content previously published in print as Oxford Handbooks, divided into 4 modules: Political Science, Philosophy, Religion, and Business & Management. The site sits on the Oxford Scholarship Online platform, and derives its functionality from that, while maintaining a separate branding and identity. The Handbooks contain articles by scholars in the majority of academic disciplines in which Oxford publishes, which provide a scholarly snapshot of a topic as well as offer original scholarly arguments.

TRIAL – Confidential Print: North America, 1824-1961

Trial access to Confidential Print: North America, 1824-1961 has been enabled on York University’s IP address range and will be available at the following URL until 6th November:

The Confidential Print series originated out of a need for the Government to preserve all of the most important papers generated by the Foreign and Colonial Offices. Some of these were one page letters or telegrams – others were large volumes or texts of treaties. All items marked ‘Confidential Print’ were printed and circulated immediately to leading officials in the Foreign Office, to the Cabinet, and to Heads of British missions abroad.

All documents are full text searchable.
